You can label me

I wanted to incorporate a fabric label into all my work but needed it to look professional. I knew I could probably try to do it myself using printable fabric, but found a MUCH easier route. I began my search on good ol' Etsy and came across an amazing store that suited my needs just fine.

My labels came in this week and I could not be more excited with how they turned out!! They come in a long strip that I just cut whenever I need one. Personally, I love this because I don't have to worry about losing any!

Can't wait to start using them!!

Tailored by Lori

I was so excited when my friend from Tech asked to have a sewing date. Her and her husband came over this past weekend (the boys stayed well occupied playing video games) and I taught Lori how to sew a little tote bag...

We started with the straps

Adding a pocket to the inside lining

Sewing the corners so the bag has dimension

turned inside out and ready to finish
We did it!
Wanna try a hand at making your own? See the tutorial I learned from and have fun!

I mean that is!

Hooray! The business cards I ordered have arrived! I wanted to be able to hand something official out if someone asked how to order and also wanted to be able to include a few with every order so people can hand them out to friends. Referrals are the best!

And back!

More items to come in my Etsy shop... this has been one crazy week!

Nomas and genies

Spring break is probably the biggest thing I miss about not being a student anymore. Last minute, I was invited to a girl's "staycation" with my sister-in-law, one of her friends and 2 of the youth leaders. Work was slow this week so I jumped on the day off! We had an amazing dinner at Sugo follow by movies in the hotel. Wednesday morning we got up and drive to the Viking Cooking School to make some homemade pasta!!

Noma: think of Italian "mamma" that spends all day in the kitchen whipping up a feast (all from scratch) drinking wine and getting her hands dirty...most likely on the pudgy side from tasting everything twice :)

You are probably wondering: Why is a girl who sews aprons wearing a plain white hand-me-down? Answer--I forgot mine at home :(

Crae and Laura dividing out the linguine

Laura stuffing the ravioli
Starting top left: Spinach linguine with peas and feta; bowtie herb pasta with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes; spinach and cheese ravioli with pancetta butter
It was HEAVENLY!!!!

After the class, we drive up to historic Dahlonega for a stroll around downtown. We stumbled upon a charming, yet massive, antique mall that provided endless entertainment. They just don't make stuff like they used to...

Probably one of the ugliest things I've ever seen...I mean a floor length patchwork apron? Really?

Ah-mazing blue velvet hat
Genie jumpsuit...oh yes, there are pants at the bottom of that!

Just a peek...

I am so excited that I just had to post a little sneak peek of some of the things that will be debuting in my Etsy store this weekend! My goal was to open shop by my birthday (Monday) and I just barely made it!

Sewing with Junebug

For those of you who don't know, I got all my artistic talent from my mom (AKA Junebug). She taught me to sew when I was young and while I didn't really get into it until about a year ago, her skills stuck with me.

The women's ministry at my church has started doing craft nights every 6 or so weeks. A different crafty lady comes in a teaches us fun things to do. The last one was about scrapbooking and we made adorable little valentines. This time, Junebug taught a sewing class on how to make gathered clutch purses. Everyone had such a great time and I can't wait to make more of these little guys!!
Ali had never sewn before in her life and I was so excited that she was able to come. She learned some great new skills and got to walk away with her adorable new creation!

P.S. ~ I hope to have my Etsy shop up and running this weekend!! Teaser pics to come :)
