New look, new gig

I felt like the blog needed some changes... the glory of having full control over what you do with your business! Woo! Loving all things mustard and grey right now (post on my laundry room makeover coming soon!) so I decided it was time for a spring makeover.

I also have some BIG news!!! No, I'm not pregnant (why is that the only good news a gal is allowed to have around here?!). I have been accepted as a vendor at the Brookwood Farmer's Market! See my fancy section on their vendor page (scroll down, yep, keep scrolling)? Soooo exciting! I will be there most Friday afternoons from 4-7 as inventory allows. I'm ecstatic about taking this next step in a very public way and am so thankful to my mother who gave me a 10x10 tent and folding table for Christmas to make this all possible.  Check out some of the other vendors while you are on their website. They have all kinds of local farms, bakeries, home goods and other artisans.

See you in a month Brookwood!

Squidward

I love new projects! A friend of mine wanted a cute and unique item to use as decoration at her sister's baby shower that would translate well into a nursery decoration to brighten up a small space. She wanted to go with an "under the sea" feel with colors that were fun and bright, all while incorporating the family's last name. This was my first project with embroidery of this size and type so I spent extra special care to ensure it came out perfectly. I used an image from the shower invitation to serve as a template for my cute little squid and... TADAH!!!!

How cute is he????

Spring Handmades Sale

Back in November, I had a fun and unique opportunity to participate in a grassroots handmades sale with some friends. I am so blessed to be surrounded by folks who love making things like I do and we had an absolute blast putting our heads together and pulling together a fun afternoon.

I am SO excited to announce that we are putting on another sale in two weeks! This time we are moving locations to shake things up a bit. We will be heading to Cumming, Georgia (to the home of yours truly!) for an afternoon of shopping, food and fellowship. There will be a little something for everyone: hand sewn and crocheted items, bath items, homemade treats, baby items, and even some beer tasting for the men! This is all happening right before Mother's Day so you can be sure to get your mother/grandmother/new mother/mother figure something truly one-of-a-kind this year!

You might be wondering...what the heck is a Handmades Sale? Simple! It is just a gathering of a few local vendors who curate antique collections and hand make all kinds of different items. Each vendor will run a booth that you are welcome to peruse for unique treasures while snacking on some free refreshments. In the meantime, the man in your life can stop by the brew station to snag a sampler plate of meats and cheeses, perfectly paired with a couple different brews (that should occupy him for a bit!). Stay as long as you like, and hopefully head home with something new and fun!

Tailored by Torrey will be featuring aprons (women and childrens only this time), makeup bags of different sizes, earbud pouches, burp cloths, flower pins and some fabric art.

Hope to see you in two weeks!!

The force

Check out these super fun custom burp cloths I made for an avid Star Wars fan friend of mine! It took me forever to get the designs right, but I was so in love with how they turned out! I ended up hand stitching the facial features on Leia (not my strongest skill, but I did it!!). Baby Charlotte will be burping in style :)

I am always up for a new challenge, what ideas do you have?
