Throw another shrimp on the barby!

Ok, so maybe this blog title is a little stereotypical, but it's still fun to say!! I have had the opportunity to travel internationally throughout the years and am so grateful for the perspective and outlook it has given me about my fellow humans and myself. About 6 years ago, I was able to spend some time with my husband's (then boyfriend) family in Papua New Guinea. I had a nice overnight layover in Cairns, Australia and spent the evening bus hopping and beach exploring and making new friends out of strangers. It was an experience I will never forget!

Fast forward to now (you are probably wondering what Australia has anything to do with anything). A friend asked me if I had ever done wedding garters. I hadn't actually ever done one, but I love new challenges and was excited to try something different. The bride was marrying an Australian and actually had two weddings--one in Australia, and another stateside. My friend had the amazing opportunity to attend both weddings, but was unable to get her garter request in for the one in Australia. Since the second one was stateside, we decided to being Australia  back home with the bride :)

Behold! A set of two custom garters (one for tossing, one for keeping) with an Australia/aboriginal theme. The base fabric was ah-mazing. It had these cute orange platypuses just swimming around, eating kelp (or whatever platypuses eat). Either way it was adorable. I found the buttons from a vendor on Etsy and accented with some navy ribbon and lace trim.

Breezy summer days

I don't know about where you live, but here in Georgia...IT'S HOT! Not like hott, but H-O-T! Being 7 months pregnant doesn't help either, there just isn't really much you can do to make 95 degrees feel ok, but there is one thing you can do--put yo hair up! And what cuter of a way to put your hair up than with a Breezy Bow? I've made a few for myself and wear them a lot. Dress up a plain pony, add one to the bottom of a braid or tie one up in a bun! Get two that match and they make a precious addition to a tiny tots pigtails.

I'm always making new ones in fun prints and colors, but they aren't always available in my Etsy shop due to the variation. If you are interested in getting one (or more!) shoot me an email, or a custom order request on Etsy and I'll get crackin'!

Marabella

Spring brings such a fresh breath of air into everything, don't you think? I had the privilege of working with the daughter-in-law of a bride-to-be to make a a custom banner for her mother's wedding. She wanted something with light and fresh colors to compliment a beach setting with the couple's last name, "Marabella". I had some fun pieces left over from a few other projects and mixed in some new prints for a breezy and beautiful wedding banner.

Florals mixed with light blues, greens and yellows

Congrats and best wishes to the happy couple!

ICE ICE Baby!

Atlanta peeps! I have just been accepted as a vendor at the Indie Craft Experience's summer show! If you've never been to ICE, you don't want to miss this! At ICE you will find a massive collection of handmade goodies from some extremely talented vendors, get a cocktail made from a local bartender while you peruse the booths and grab something from the food trucks afterwards. It's their 10th anniversary show so I'm sure it won't disappoint!

I've been holding out on you guys, and I apologize. I have been undergoing some major life changes and didn't include YOU! My clients and followers are what keep this business alive!

A few months ago my husband and I found out some exciting news...

we are going to be first time parents! We are thrilled and terrified all at the same time. "Tiny" (as we have affectionately name the little one) is expected to be here around Labor Day with an official due date of September 6.

My hubs whole family is from Maine where L.L. Bean reigns supreme. Since we both have Bean Boots, I found these little knitted ones for Tiny on Etsy from a vendor in...wait for it...MAINE! :)

The upside to waiting so long to post this is that you also don't have to wait to find out the gender! Yay for you! I had never really thought that I would do a gender reveal thing, I knew that I wanted to know right away and wanted to be able to just tell family right away as well. We decided on a compromise to find out, and let family know and then did a small cupcake reveal for the youth group that we work with on Wednesday nights.

For those of you who have no idea what a cupcake reveal is, it is very simple. You fill the inside of a cupcake with the color of the gender of your wee one (blue for boy, pink for girl, duh!), then you have everyone bite into them at the same time and wait for the "ooohs" and "aaahhhs". How do you get the frosting inside the cupcake? You can either have a local baker make them for you, or do what I did--buy this little gem online and do them yourself! I was a little scared going into it, but the tool worked like a charm and I knocked out 50 cupcake in no time!

We decided to have everyone pick what they thought Tiny was so I decorated the outside of the cupcakes with mustaches and bows. I was so pumped with how they turned out!

Our original choices... I was feeling boy and the hubs was positive it was a girl

IT'S A GIRL!!!
I am so excited to have a little tailor in training. I have been scouring Pinterest for DIY dresses, shoes, onesies (ok, I've gone a little cray cray with the pinning lately) and I can't wait to try out some new things when Tiny makes her debut in just 4 short months!

Got him in her pocket

Almost a year ago, I was asked to make a custom apron for a wedding shower. The client had found a cute vintage bed sheet on Etsy along with a "Mrs" and hand-stitched bear pillowcase that she wanted me to incorporate into the design. She loved the outcome so much that she found another sheet set and pillowcases that she wanted me to transform for another shower (I love my repeat customers!). This time, she not only had a "Mrs" pillowcase, but also a "Mr" one to match. She had the cute idea to put the "Mr" inside the pocket to be a little tongue-in-cheek. I loved it!

Best hit of 2013

While Facebook and others have been posting everyone's best hits of 2013, I felt I needed to highlight TbyT's best hit of last year....ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the earbud case!!! Versatile and compact, this baby was by far my best seller in 2013. Not just limited to earbuds, customers purchased these to hold earrings when they travel, coins, small office supplies, etc. The possibilities are many!

Here are some of my favorites from 2013...

Grey and cream chevron with a red zipper

Pastel broken chevron print

blue and cream chevron with red zipper (I also did one in yellow!)

peacock print with vintage orange zipper, love the Tarzan book!

Vintage "carpet bagger" fabric, it's so 70's all it needs is a little shag carpet on the inside

And of course, my most popular print this year -- the mustachio!

Shine bright like a diamond

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Year celebration! This holiday season, I was able to take some much needed time off for some R&R at the beach with my family. Nothing like the wind and the waves to press the reset button!

Before I took off, I was able to complete a project I have been antsy to work on. A few weeks ago, I got this divine sequiny (yea, I make up words) fabric at a local store. I knew I wanted to make something fabulous and the holidays was the right time to to it! I took some adjustining, working with "3d" fabric but I was in LOVE with the end result!

Have a sparkly new year!
